Known for her humor and flair, Jan C. Smith is an exciting storyteller and an engaging workshop presenter.  She has performed on the stages of the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, the Weber State Storytelling Festival and presented workshops and performances for the Roots Technology Conference and BYU Arts Express. Jan is a graduate of Utah State University where she performed with the Old Lyric Repertory Company.

She has taught High School Drama and as also taught struggling readers as an Elementary Literacy Specialist.

Jan has been a part of in school residencies teaching the magic of stories to young students.  She believes, “A story doesn’t preach or chide or correct  – it connects”. Students are empowered with the strength of stories.

In 2020, Jan donned a costume and portrayed Susan B. Anthony in celebrations commemorating women getting the vote. She is also a member StoryFusion – a group of tellers seeking to entertain and expand their reach in storytelling.
