Tim Lowry hales from Charleston, SC- “where history lives.” His home is on the sight of a 17th century plantation. He attends church services on an 18th century farm, has his prescriptions filled in a 19th century drug store, drives a 20th century automobile, and performs for 21st century audiences. He travels the United States presenting stories from American history in an entertaining style that encourages audiences to consider the past, relish the present, and look toward the future with optimistic expectation. Tim premiered at the National Storytelling Festival with his one-man show “Every Inch a Gentleman” in which he presents a macaroni caricature of a Southern aristocrat. The show was a big hit with the audience and has since played at several other festivals. He has also served as storyteller in residence at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, TN performing his “World War II Radio Hour” for enthusiastic student audiences. Previous to his 20+ years as a traveling storyteller, Tim integrated English Language Arts and Social Studies as a fifth grade teacher. He also worked as a tour guide, driving a horse and carriage, in the largest and oldest historic district in the United States.
